Many Lives, Many Masters - Book Review

Many Lives, Many Masters is the true story capturing the life of a prominent psychiatrist and the series of events that changed his Life.

As a psychotherapist from Columbia University and Yale Medical School Dr. Brian Weiss spent years in the study of the human psychology. Which of course makes him base his judgments purely on rationality? He did not believe anything that could not be proved scientifically. But when he met his young patient, Catherine, in 1980, who came to his office in search for a remedy for her anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias, he was taken aback. The therapy sessions that followed, jolted him out of his conventional ways of thought and beliefs. For the first time, he was acquainted to the concept of reincarnation.

For a year and a half he used conventional methods of treatment to help Catherine overcome her traumas. After several failing attempts he finally resorted to hypnosis. After the first few sessions, Dr. Brian took Catherine back to her childhood days as she strained her mind bringing out isolated, deeply inflicted memory fragments. Gruesome incidents like her own Dad molesting her and her getting gagged in a swimming pool came out as words.

In a series of trance-like states, Catherine recalled “past life” memories that proved to cause recurring nightmares and anxiety attack symptoms in her present life. She remembers “living 86 times in physical state” in different. She recalled vividly the details of each birth and how she was killed.

But Catherine revealed much more. As she floats out of her body after each death, she says, “I am aware of a bright light. It’s wonderful; you get energy from this light.” Then, while waiting to be reborn in the in-between-lives state, she learns from the Masters great wisdom and becomes a conductor for transcendental knowledge. A book that is rich in ideology and spiritually commanding. A rejuvenating experience. Must read.

Whispering Windows

The clouds shook hands and the river met rocks
That night, the window had no locks
Throwing the curtains away in the air
Mesmerized in the scene so rare

Gazing at the view outside
so pretty , captivating my mind
I stood spellbound and still
As the nature acted like a sweet pill

Stretching my palm outside
Rain droplets taking away all my pride
Softening my hands, making them pale
And then suddenly I saw a nightingale
Soaring high above drenched in water
Like I was drenched in memories forever

Pounding over the limitless expanse of the skies
And the trail I left behind, my infinite tries
A chilly breeze touched my soul and passed
Awakening me from the dreams at last
Whispering to forget the past
Back, I withdrew my hand fast

That night was a night to remember
When i experienced the bright surrender
Giving me a new meaning to life
Leading me to wonderfully strive
of all that i had dreamt of in my fantasy
Echoing the sounds of freedom with chastity
I heard the whispering windows
